DOWNRIVER GROUP. The officers were led by incoming President Myrna Mariano. The event was highlighted by a debutante ball participated in by eight young ladies and their escorts.

The Downriver Filipino American Association (DFAA) will hold its 14th Debutante Ball and induction of officers on July 22, 2017 in the Edwards Hotel and Convention Center (formerly Hyatt) at 600 Tower Drive, Dearborn, it was announced.

Carmen (Menchu) Concepcion, chairperson of the committee in charge of the event, said six debutantes will be formally introduced to society during the event.

The highlight of the event is the dancing of the cotillion by the debutantes and their escorts.

Concepcion said the rehearsal for the cotillion is now in its final phase.

The Amihan Band, composed of Filipino-American performers, will provide the music.

During the same affair, the new DFAA officers led by incoming President Arlene Bishop will take their oath of office. Outgoing President is Myrna Mariano.

Ticket price is $55 each.

Registration will start at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
