12 beauties vying for 2017 Miss Asia of Michigan title

5 groups to stage first Miss Asia of Michigan scholarship pageantTwelve Asian ladies with ages ranging from 16 to 24 will vie for the first Miss Asia of Michigan crown during a pageant that will be held on July 1, 2017 in the auditorium of the Van Dyke Community Center in Warren, Michigan.

The beauty contest, dubbed Miss Asia of Michigan Scholarship Pageant 2017, is a joint project of the following major Asian American organizations: United States Pinoys 4 Good Governance (USP4GG), North American Chinese Coalition (NACC), Midwest Buddhist Meditation Center (MBMC), Vietnamese American Association of Michigan (VAAM) and the Asian Community Outreach (ACO).

The five organizations will co-host the Miss Asia of Michigan Scholarship Pageant 2017 whose aim is to provide young Asian women with an opportunity to showcase their talent and skills through various categories. These include Ethnic Attire, Best Talent, Best Gown, Best Sports Attire, People’s Choice Award, Miss Congeniality and Miss Social Media.

The first-place winner will be awarded with the title, crown, sash, bouquet of flowers and a grand prize of $1,000.

So far, 12 young ladies have signed up for the beauty contest. They are KimVy Nguyen (Vietnam), Alyson Podwoiski (Philippines), Victoria Lanoi Phung (Thailand), Lizz Lemmer (Philippines), Hunnah Antoinette Joseph (Philippines), Jenny Tri Tran (Vietnam), Nerissa Marie Villapando (Philippines), Cathy Han (China), Patricia King Lee (China), Annabell Mugan (Philippines), Michelle Mo Liu (China) and Lulu Zhang (China).

The winner of the title will reign for two years.

The organizers are inviting organizations and businesses to be sponsors of this state-wide event.

Sponsorship levels are as follows: $500, gold sponsor who will be entitled to a full-page advertisement in the souvenir program and 10 complimentary tickets to the pageant; $300, silver sponsor, full-page advertisement in the souvenir program and six complimentary tickets to the pageant; $200, bronze sponsor, half-page advertisement in the souvenir program and two complimentary tickets.

One-page advertisement in the souvenir program will cost $100. Costs of tickets are: VIP, $50 each; regular, $20; and $10, student price.
